"After being away from martial arts for several years, I sought an established dojo with a strong training philosophy and traditional foundation.  Helena Martial Arts Academy is this dojo.  Instruction includes self-defense techniques, historical influence and understanding, and polishing a person's character."

“This the first exercise routine that I have been able to continue. If it wasn't for karate being something I've found a great stress release in, I would have thought of giving up."

          Karate Class Programs

Karate class programs can vary depending on the school or instructor, but here is a general overview of what a typical karate class program may consist of:

          1. Warm-Up Exercises: The class will start with a series of stretching exercises and light cardiovascular movements to warm up the body and prevent injury.

          2. Basics: The instructor will teach and review basic karate techniques such as punches, kicks, blocks, and strikes. These techniques are the foundation of karate and are practiced repeatedly to build muscle memory and improve form.

          3. Forms (Kata): Forms are a series of predetermined movements that simulate a fight against imaginary opponents. Practicing forms helps students develop proper technique, timing, and rhythm.
